We develop and evolve – the Pintos way of service

Like many other industries, the construction industry is always changing. It is better to lead the development than remain on the sidelines. Pintos Oy has led development forward during its decades of operation by recognizing its customers’ changing needs and meeting them. Managing director Tuomas Pere tells about how Pintos does its part to bring construction towards the 2020s.

Recent years have been a time of change for Pintos. The acquisition of Okaria expanded our selection of reinforcement supplies even more, customer service resources have been increased and the website has been redesigned – to name a few changes. All of these actions are a part of our long-term development at the forefront of the industry. What are the changes we wish to speed up?

Pintos serves many kinds of customers from the industry to building companies and retailers. Each customer may be in a different situation during different stages of their project and even throughout their workday. We want to meet these different needs by being where we are currently needed. You can call from the edge of the pit, send email after a workday that has stretched into the evening or order through our new online service – what is most important is that you can reach us, get answers to your questions and get your order in.

It is easier for everyone when the same company supplies the reinforcements, concrete accessories and fasteners for wood construction. “Everything but the concrete” describes our selection well, and ordering everything at once significantly reduced extra work. A broad catalog also requires us to have a broad knowledge of the products that we are selling. It is important to us to be able to see things from the customer’s perspective, recommend suitable accessories and suggest the optimal quantities to order, for example, regarding freight.

Effortlessly ordering from a wide selection of products requires a reliable delivery to support it, so that the worksite does not have to sit and wait for the supplies. Construction is increasingly based on precisely synced stages, where the supplier’s punctuality plays a key role. The reliability of delivery is expressly about ability and muscle: sufficient production and shipping resources to sort out even the busiest situations, often by a designated delivery team that knows their customer’s specific needs. We dispatch directional shipments almost all over Finland each week. Within the Helsinki metropolitan area, we are usually able to deliver supplies ordered in the morning within the same day!

Many visitors to our factories have been surprised about how large-scale our operations really are. Even though we are a large operator – one of the largest in Finland – in terms of production and reliability of delivery, we aim to keep Pintos approachable like a small company. We are a Finnish company which has invested in sales resources and we want to build a good relationship with each customer.

Our availability, selection and reliability of delivery are all part of a larger goal: making construction and the related industry smoother, safer and more efficient. This development is driven by several factors. Our aim is that our products are a bit better to work with, and in the larger scale the savings will accumulate. In addition, building with tailored reinforcements and quality accessories has been proven to improve industrial safety.

Pintos was founded in 1956, and we have manufactured reinforcements since 1983. We tend to say that we are beyond the surface of construction – working with customers and at their sites. Accumulated throughout the years, our knowledge of products and methods also provides continuity as new generations of engineers step up. By renewing, inventing new solutions and broadening the range of products, Pintos will continue to develop and evolve along with the times.
